Donald W. Guymon

MFT Intern

Don recognizes the need men have for therapy, but may not be so willing to engage in.

Don Guymon is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern, currently enrolled in the Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Northcentral University. Don began his educational pursuit while working in a retail pharmacy where he witnessed the effects that opioid pain medication had on individual customers. That inspired him to pursue a bachelor of arts degree in Addiction Counseling during which he recognized that he wanted to work with not only individuals but their families as well, so that he could provide the care and treatment for clients, young and old, in a more effective way.

During Don’s pursuit of his Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy, he has become very aware of the need for more mental health awareness for adolescent boys and adult men. Don recognizes the need men have for therapy, but may not be so willing to engage in. Don is very interested in the issues that boys and men encounter in their lives which not only affect them, but their families as well. Don has many friends and acquaintances that have experienced the challenges of being the men they desire to be. He firmly believes that masculinity comes in many varieties and each man can define his own. Don hopes to be a part of that growth in his clients and their families.

Don is a husband to his wife of 36 years, father of his four adult children, and grandpa of his 11 grandchildren, with number 12 arriving in early March 2023. Camping, fishing and gardening are a few of his favorite summer activities. He tolerates the winter but does enjoy ice fishing with friends and family.
