Dresden Clark
LSUDC, MFT Intern
Dresden understands the vital connection between mind and body. She is dedicated to helping clients release stored energy through practices like breathwork, body movement, and yoga.
Dresden Clark is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern at Capella University with a background in substance use counseling. Dresden began her career by working as a case manager in a substance use treatment center while completing her Bachelor's degree at Utah State University. She further expanded her knowledge by earning a degree in Substance Use Disorders Counseling from The University of Utah, becoming a Licensed Substance Use Counselor. This created the foundation for her career in counseling, where she has gained extensive experience in both a residential treatment setting and an outpatient setting.
Dresden has developed a deep passion for helping individuals and families navigate the complex healing process. Through her work, she has observed individuals making significant progress while families struggled to adjust and heal alongside them. This realization sparked Dresden’s passion and commitment to family therapy, understanding that true transformation involves healing the entire system.
Dresden believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the deep connection it creates with clients. She knows that building trust is key to lasting change. One of her guiding principles is the quote, “Compassion is knowing your darkness well enough to sit in the dark with others. It is a relationship of equals, not a relationship between the helper and the helped.” – Pema Chodron. This reflects her belief in the importance of mutual respect and understanding in therapy.
Dresden understands the vital connection between mind and body. She is dedicated to helping clients release stored energy through practices like breathwork, body movement, and yoga. Outside of her professional life, Dresden enjoys spending time with her husband and her three adult children. She has a deep passion for nature, recognizing its profound connection to healing. The Uinta Mountains hold a special place in her heart, and she can be found there whenever she has the opportunity, either camping or backpacking with her family. Together, they love exploring the great outdoors, creating lasting memories in the beauty of the Utah Mountains.
As an intern, Dresden practices under the supervision of Charity Hotton, LMFT.
