Makenzie helps clients strengthen their relationships and find personal solutions to improve their lives.
Makenzie Shaughnessy is an associate marriage and family therapist. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in management from Purdue University. She then worked in human resources for five years after graduating. She was able to start her masters and realize her dream of pursuing a career as a therapist in order to better help others. She aims to help people find their voice and be able to express themselves.
Makenzie attended the master's program for Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. She likes to focus on a person's strengths to help them find a solution that best fits them. She also uses Emotionally Focused Therapy primarily in her work with couples. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Utah Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (UAMFT). She is passionate about helping children, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and their families as well as helping families and couples build and strengthen healthy communication.
Makenzie spends her free time with family and friends and enjoys reading, writing, dancing, and being in nature.
