Psychiatric Medication Management Draper

Adult Psychiatric Services

Sage Family Counseling offers medication management services for adults 18 years old and over in Draper, Utah and the surrounding areas. Our medication management services can be useful for a broad range of psychiatric disorders including, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Substance abuse disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

Sometimes psychotherapy by itself doesn’t meet the needs of the patient population, which is why antipsychotics, sedatives, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, and other classes of medication may be required. We listen carefully to your concerns with compassion and empathy.

At Sage Family Counseling, you won’t see the typical pill mill you may be used to with today’s medicine. Our psychiatric nurse practitioner works to ensure a multidisciplinary team approach to every case. We consult and collaborate with each other to ensure every client receives the attention they need.

Three-Sided Approach

For optimal treatment of any of the conditions that would benefit from medication management, we recommend a Three-Sided Approach to treatment. First, all patients are encouraged to develop and consistently follow a healthy Self-Care Plan. Second, patients are encouraged to participate in regular psychotherapy sessions to work through and address the challenges they are facing. And, third, patients are encouraged to be open and transparent with their psychiatric provider, actively attend and participate in their follow up sessions, and take their medication as prescribed, adjusting as needed with their psychiatry provider.

What to Expect

We start each medication management client with a detailed intake process and discussion of symptoms and medical history. Following the intake, we generally have a two-week follow up session and then will meet with you once per month for follow-up sessions while you are actively taking medication. In addition to discussion of medication options and your experience with current medications, we offer psychiatric counseling as needed as well as collaborative care with our team of individual, couple, and family therapists. Most medication appointments need to be scheduled in person due to the need to check vitals (heart rate, blood pressure, weight, etc.), but some telehealth appointments may be possible in some cases for follow up appointments.

Working with Pete hasn’t erased or numbed the pain/confusion of divorce, but it’s helped me find greater resilience, serenity, hope, meaning. His safe and stabilizing camaraderie is rare company where I can process without judgment, express without criticism, and explore new ideas knowing someone is on my side, always rooting for my greater well-being and happiness. This is a place where all of the inside words can come out and it’s ok.

“When I first scheduled an appointment at Sage Family Counseling, I was extremely hesitant about seeing a male counselor. I had trauma from my past that I had never dealt with that made me very guarded with men. Pete made me feel so safe and comfortable immediately. I am so thankful for the help and support I receive that I can honestly say not only made me a more secure person, but truly saved my life. I highly recommend seeing Pete as he is a fantastic listener and great at helping you cope and grieve in a healthy, productive way.”

“We've been working with Peter Benson for about 8 months now and all I can say is I can't believe the progress we have been able to make towards managing our teenage daughters anxiety and PMDD. Pete consistently makes her/us feel understood and validated yet is always able to offer advice, tools, and perspectives that enable us to see situations more clearly. He creates an incredibly safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for his clients that allow for honest reflection and growth. I can not imagine working with anyone else.”

“Me and my family’s lives have been amazingly blessed through Dr. Henline’s counsel. I reached out to him (not previously knowing anything about him or his practice) in September of 2018, desperate for a qualified therapist/Dr. who could help me through an extraordinarily difficult time. He saw me through it and I’m forever grateful for his wisdom, advice, and compassion. I’ve referred others to him as well because I know he’s completely qualified and can handle complex, and challenging issues. I’ve continued to meet with him occasionally for problems that arise and continue to leave empowered.”

“Dr. Henline has had a profound impact on my life. He steadfastly guided me through the process of looking at the issues I needed to resolve and settle in my soul. The resounding conclusion being “It is my life; I need to own it”. Like a great surgeon, Dr. Henline cut away the clutter and helped me focus on the “Now” . . . empowering me with insight, education and understanding to let go of the disabling past and embrace the present with more self-awareness and a determination to be the best me I can be.”

The office staff solved problems with my insurance and removed barriers to care that no other doctor's office was able to.”

  • “Branden didn’t solve my problems; he made me aware that I have the power and ability to solve them on my own. I was introduced to new thought and behavior patterns that freed me from a self-imposed prison."

  • Missionary Mom

“We are immensely grateful for the therapy that Branden was able to offer my son who was diagnosed with OCD on his mission.  Branden was able to provide sessions virtually since he was out of the country.  This was tricky at times with less than ideal internet connections in Colombia.  However, the few times we lost connection he would use the time to teach me how to help my missionary so we could use the session time efficiently. The tips and techniques provided by Branden offered him resources to cope and find success each week until Covid-19 sent him home.  The mission therapist was able to monitor the medication needed, but Branden's insight was invaluable at helping him manage intrusive thoughts and anxiety.  We are grateful that he was able to provide the support my son needed on his mission.”

He helped us to communicate more effectively with each other and we can now talk more openly without getting angry. It was easy to meet with him on Zoom, fitting it in with ease in our busy schedules.”
