Navigating Faith Transitions
This is a unique time culturally. Fractioning divides within our country, communities, family, and even church can leave us struggling to stay meaningfully connected to others yet anchored in our own values. In a faith crisis, complex feelings can lead to a restless inner landscape. These feelings can include confusion, grief, loss, disconnection, isolation, anger, bitterness, and frustration, along with increased anxiety and depression. Faith crises can lead to feeling disoriented and misunderstood, as navigating relationships with partners, family members, and friends can feel isolating and lonely.
In our clinic, we have worked with people going through a variety of changes in their spirituality and their relationships with others, such as:
- Leaving a Faith Community
- Staying but changing your approach or experience within your Faith Community
- Finding ways to stay connected with loved ones through and following a faith transition.
- Managing your own thoughts, feelings, and relationships when a family member or other loved one is changing their faith journey
- Navigating couple relationships with one partner is staying and one is leaving
